New Kitchen

This past week, the boys went to Camp Sloan (those pictures will come next) so Jeremy and I could do a little home improvement in the kitchen. We had high hopes with a long list but settled on the walls and floors. We started by removing old wallpaper. We had the help of a steamer, which I highly recommend if you ever need to remove wallpaper. Then washing the walls and prepping for the paint. After several coats of paint, we laid the new floor down. We didn't get to the baseboards and lighting. We also want to replace the fan. We have limited storage in here, so it has been a challenge finding where to put things. When we got rid of a cabinet that housed all the Tupperware, kids plates and cups, it took away lots of storage. I decided to put it in the one of the two lower cabinet and take out the small appliances. Joseph is always in that cabinet and it was not safe for him to play with the toaster and blender blades. Now all of the small appliances are on the dining room table. We are looking for a new wardrobe to replace the old ice chest we are currently using. So other than these little projects we almost finished with the kitchen. It was a good week and busy but we did manage to eat out a couple of times and had lots of conversations without interruptions. It was all worth it when Luke said, "The kitchen is beautiful! I love the red!"Notice the lights in the ceiling. We are working on finding the right lights and replacing the square "can" lights. It will involve new wiring, patching the ceiling and then painting the ceiling. Look what we found behind the cabinet. And a close up of the floor is below.

New floors that Jeremy and I laid. They are a floating vinyl floor that lays right on top of the old floors. It was so easy and really changed the room.

Hopefully a new dishwasher will come our way soon.

No cabinet = more space in the kitchen.

Next project is painting the cabinets and replacing the hardware
