Over the past ten months, we have worked on the yard, cleaning, clearing and planting. We were blessed with 12 Black Locust trees that were covered in vine and some were dead. Last fall we got 4 cut down and the vine cleaned off the rest. Then were discovered that the other 8 were in bad shape. Over the past two weeks, we had the other 8 cut down. It was lots of fun for the boys to watch. This weekend, Jeremy, Susan, the boys and I did more yard work. I think we are at a good stopping point for this year.

This weekend Jeremy built a fence to give the back yard some privacy and keep Lilli in.

Before. This tree was the tallest and hardest to cut down. It took two tree companies to cut it down. The first one had to climb up the tree and cut down the top half section by section. It had the electric power lines going through the top, a yellow jackets nest and thorns. The second company came in and cut down the bottom half. It was infested with black ants. I am so glad this tree is gone.

After. We planted 6 Miss Kim Lilac plants along the fence. The big square hole in the patio had a tree in it that was cut down in the fall. That tree company said they couldn't remove the stump because of the concrete. This company said it would be no problem but they couldn't go down as far. So the trunk is still there which doesn't allow us to pour concrete and fill in the hole. We are debating what to put there, a flower box or a fire pit. We are open for suggestions.
This is the inside of the fence. Jeremy also surprised me with a Big Daddy Hydrangea. This is one of my most favorite flower.
We have worked hard this weekend but enjoyed lots of swimming and playing with the boys. Luke was in and out while we worked but Joseph was right there "helping" us through each project. We also stained the picnic table and patio table. Luke was a great big help in that project in staining the underneath of the picnic table. We have also enjoyed our clean and "new"patio having several cookouts.
