Taking over the jungle!

I haven't posted in awhile on the house. We slowed down some over the winter but we have finally gotten outside and started on the yard work. It has taken several weekends but we have made great progress. I have started out with before, fall and now pictures just so you can appreciate the work the we have done. When we first went to look at the house. All the beds, trees and grass were very overgrown. Most of the back of the house was covered in poison ivy and the fences were overgrown with honeysuckle.

Jeremy and Susan clear out tons of jungle last fall.

Then we got 4 trees cut down. Once these trees were cut down, the dogwood has flourished. I just love seeing that covered in all the blooms. We have about 8 more to cut down. Jeremy also cut down the bushes that were in front of the windows. I didn't get a picture of those but we hated them.
This spring we dug up bulbs and got the front bed ready to plant.
It doesn't look like much now but will grow to be beautiful one day. We planted Azaleas in front of the house, Knockout roses, a Little Fuji Twist Cherry Tree, daylillies, and Lemon thread cypress bushes in the front bed.
The side of the house was so overgrown that you couldn't see through it. Jeremy and Susan cut down and cleared out tons of the jungle.
We are working on growing grass and getting the patio and backyard looking good. The boys have been great helpers with the yard work. Joseph watched Jeremy and then gets in there to help. Luke loves to water everything including the very pretty yellow flowers (weeds). We have really enjoyed being outside and working again. On to the next project: the kitchen!

Catherine, it's looking so great! When we were over looking at the other house recently, I was just amazed at how beautiful your landscaping is! You guys have worked so hard and it is paying off!
